What manual trade pricing really costs a UK wholesaler
Every wholesaler underestimates this number. Here's the maths we use to show them.
The worked example
Take a small wholesale operation: 30 trade orders a day, 7 lines each, 30 seconds per line spent finding the right price for that customer.
- 30 × 7 × 30s = 1 hour 45 minutes a day in price lookup alone
- At £14/hour fully-loaded: ~£6,400 a year in rep time
- Add a ~3% pricing-error rate on £400k of trade turnover: ~£12,000 a year in margin, usually undercharged
That's roughly £18,000 a year to do it by hand.
Why it happens
Linnworks gives you one retail price per SKU. Trade customers don't pay retail. So the rep has to hold three things in their head: who the customer is, what tier they're on, and the tier price for that SKU. If any of those lives in a spreadsheet, that's a lookup. If it lives in someone's memory, that's a risk.
The fix
B2B Price Tiers holds the pricing: named tiers, formulas, attractive rounding, synced into Linnworks. Trade Order POS consumes it: pick the customer, the cart fills at their tier prices automatically. Lookup time per line goes from 30 seconds to zero. The rep never has to know the tier.
The pair costs a fraction of what the manual version leaks. That's the entire case.
